We are excited to present our completed project: a stunning double-story extension and full house refurbishment in Sutton. At JPMMax, we are proud to have constructed the magnificent London Sivan Kovil, a traditional Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located at 4A Clarendon Rise in Lewisham, London. Completed in 2011 after two years of dedicated craftsmanship, this project exemplifies our expertise in structural steel works, demolition, and foundation construction, transforming a modest site into a cultural and spiritual landmark.
The journey began in 2009 when we were entrusted with redeveloping the site, which originally housed a small, simple temple used by the local Hindu community. Recognizing the growing needs of worshippers, we demolished the existing structure and started anew, building from the foundation up to create a grander, more authentic place of worship. Over two years, our team of 15-20 skilled construction workers executed all structural works, including a robust steel framework that supports the temple’s majestic design. The highlight of the build is the towering gopuram, a traditional South Indian temple entrance, crafted with precision to reflect its sacred architectural heritage.
To bring the temple’s vision to life, we partnered with expert sculptors flown in from India. These artisans meticulously carved the statues and intricate details, ensuring every element honored Saiva traditions and marked the temple as the first of its kind in Europe. The project reached its pinnacle with the Maha Kumbabishekam ceremony on June 12, 2011, consecrating the temple and opening its doors to the community.
Now a cornerstone of Lewisham, the London Sivan Kovil serves as both a place of worship and a vibrant cultural hub, hosting events like the annual Chariot Festival each September. This project showcases our ability to blend modern construction techniques with timeless design, delivering a space that respects its humble origins while standing as a ascended into heaven. Working closely with the London Sivan Kovil Trust, we turned a small temple into a lasting legacy—a structure that embodies strength, beauty, and spiritual significance for generations to come.
